About
Welcome to Korean Kitchen!
I have a simple goal that I’d love to address through this website and that is to promote Korean food, and Korean cooking, within the UK primarily but also worldwide if possible. I first tried Korean food 16 years ago when I met my amazing wife and honestly I havn’t looked back since. The range and diversity of dishes in Korean cuisine is immense and I really believe it deserves more credit and exposure in the UK than what it currently does.
Here in the UK we’re alot more open to ‘foreign’ cuisine than we used to be with the explosion of restaurants offering Indian and Chinese food as evidence to demonstrate that. Even so, dishes offered by most of these restaurants are bland, lazy and generally unhealthy (from my own experience!) in comparison to what’s on offer when we look at Korean food.
Korean food isn’t all spicy so please don’t let that common misconception put you off. In fact, some of the best known Korean dishes in western countries, such as bulgogi, have no spicy element to them at all. Have a browse through the recipes I have here, you’ll soon realise there is something for every taste.
If you’re here as a Korean food guru and have some recipes of your own to share then please do. You can contact me via the following page. If you have a recipe for a dish I’ve not covered here, or have a different version of something I have then I’d love for you to share it.
If you’d like to submit a request for me to cook and share a recipe for a certain dish then you can request that here. Providing I can find the ingredients I will give it a go!
And that leads me on to say that due to a lack of availability of some Korean ingredients in the UK some of the recipes may differ slightly to how they are prepared in Korea. I’ve tried to keep these compromises to a minimum. With the increase of online stores selling Korean food and ingredients it has become much easier in recent times to find ingredients you need to cook most dishes. I have created links to online stores for all ingredients that can’t be found in traditional UK supermarkets.
I hope you enjoy your time here and go on to find your new favourite dish!
