Doenjang (된장) is a fermented soy bean paste that is used widely across a number of Korean recipes to add a rich and nutty flavour to the dish. It is often used in soups and stews or as a dipping paste. Although not commonly found in UK supermarkets (as far as I know!) you are almost certain to find this stocked in most Korean/Chinese supermarkets within the UK.

It can be stored in a cool dry cupboard before opening and then in the fridge once opened.
